Mario "Rio" Dixon-Thurman of Rockford departed this earthly life January 21, 2024. He was born April 23, 1980 in Rockford the son of Michael E. Dixon and Doris Thurman. Mario was employed as a mechanical assembler by Collins Aerospace. He graduated from Guilford High School class of 1999.

Mario leaves to cherish many loving memories, his wife, Jenny; step children, Devin, Brooke, Brianna and Alyssa Olson; mother, Doris McIntosh and father, Micheal E. Dixon; two brothers, Antonio (Theresa) Lee and Michael Jr., (Bianca) Dixon; three sisters, Turana Thurman, Katrina Dixon and Shalonda (Robert) Davis; a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews other relatives and friends.

Services will be held 11:00 a.m. Monday, January 29, 2024 at St. Luke Missionary Baptist Church 2919 19th Street. Burial in Greenwood Cemetery. Visitation will be held 9:00 a.m. until the time of service. Arrangements completed by Carl E. Ponds Funeral Home Inc. 200 N. Johnston Ave.
