Martha L. Moore of Rockford departed this earthly life April 30, 2023. She was born September 23, 1944 in Prescott, Arkansas the daughter Robert and Ella Charles. Martha lived in Rockford since 1952 coming from Chicago. She married Melvin Moore, August 30, 1974, in Rockford. Martha was employed as an accountant by The City of Rockford Community Development Department 25 years before retiring. She was a member of Second Christian Church. She graduated Inglewood High School in Chicago.

Martha leaves to cherish many loving memories, her devoted husband, Melvin; three step sons, Marvin Moore, Stephen Carter and Shawn White; eight step daughters, Mechele (Olen Sr. ) Beal, Theresa (Jerry) Moore-Craig, Regina Moore, Tasha Forest, Karen Dilahunt, Stephanie (Jamie) and Tammy Pearson; a host of step grandchildren and great grandchildren; brother, Thomas (Robbin Hannah) Charles; sisters in law: Minnie Lomax and Ethel Roy a host of nieces, nephews other relatives and friends. She was predeceased by her step son, Robert Moore; her parents; brother, Max Charles; and four sisters, Rosetta Latin, Marlene Bridges, Maple Lockhart and Inez Williams.

Services will be held 11:00 a.m. Monday, May 8, 2023 at Carl E. Ponds Funeral Home Inc. 200 N. Johnston Ave. Visitation will be held 9:00 a.m. until the time of service.
