Mary Marie Rivers, of Rockford departed this earthly life August 15, 2025. She was born August 5, 1937 in Chidester, Arkansas the daughter of Jimmy and Gillie Gulley. Mary lived in Rockford most of her life coming from Arkansas. Mary married Repoleon Rivers, May 29, 1955, he preceded her in death. She was employed as a caterer for Welches Cheese Hut and as a lunch aid by the Rockford Board of Education serving at Lewis Lemon Elementary School. Mary was a member of Allen Chapel A.M.E. Church. She attended Riverdale and Lincoln School.

Mary leaves to cherish many loving memories, her daughter, Sheila (Gary) Sorrells; two grandchildren, Takisha Rivers and Shanreka Sorrells; four great grandchildren, Martavius, Anthony, Saniya and Samaria; one great great granddaughter, Aziah; a host of other relatives and friends. She was predeceased by her parents; husband; four brothers, Hercie, Ercie, David and Junior Gulley.

Services will be held 11:00 a.m. Saturday, August 23, 2025 at Allen Chapel A.M.E. Church 3000 Rural Street. Burial in  Sunset Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be held 9:00 a.m.
