Maynard R. Martin, of Rockford departed this earthly life February 4, 2025. He was born January 26, 1961 in Beloit, Wisconsin the son of Bernice Martin and Robert Johnson. Maynard lived in Rockford most of his life coming from Beloit, WI. He married the former Julie Rossol, May 5, 2001, she preceded him in death. Maynard was last employed as a cook by Norwegian for four years, previously being employed at Olive Garden over 15 years. He attended Jefferson and West High School.

Maynard leaves to cherish many loving memories, two daughters, Dezarae and Daeja Martin; sisters, Kimberly Martin and Andrea Griffin, Afriqah Imani, and Brandii Fatihat Dangerfield; brothers, Diallo Sekou, and Atif Gamal; a host of nieces, nephews cousins other relatives and friends best friends, Andre and Deajun Parham and Michael Simmons.

He was predeceased by his parents, wife, Julie Martin; and brothers, Gregory Martin and Yousuf Bin-Rella; sisters, Adiyah Hassan and October Scott and favorite niece, Stacey Lovings.

Services will be held 11:00 a.m. Saturday, February 22, 2025 at Gomez Chapel A.M.E. Church 1509 Michigan Ave. Visitation will be held 9:00 a.m. until the time of service.  Arrangements completed by Carl E. Ponds Funeral Home Inc.
