Melodie C. "Froggy" Peyton of Rockford departed this earthly life January 2, 2023. She was born August 14, 1966 in Memphis TN the daughter of Bennie Sr. and Christine Peyton. Melodie lived in Rockford since 1968 coming from Holly Springs, MS. She was employed as a Certified Nurses Assistant many years for several nursing homes. Melodie was a member of Progressive Missionary Baptist Church. She attended Guilford High School, later to receive her G.E.D.  Melodie graduated from Rockford Career College with Associates degree in both Business and Accounting.

Melodie leaves to cherish many loving memories, two daughters, Markita Peyton and Martise Peyton; two sons, Avery (Courtneie) Peyton and Javen Peyton; 8 grandchildren, Kassandra, Kaelani, Avery Jr., Avierre, Jerrico, Avani, Jordan, and Avareigh; a host of other relatives and friends. She was predeceased by her parents; brother Bennie Peyton Jr., and sister, Kassandra Peyton.

Services will be held 11:00 a.m. Friday, January 20, 2023 at Carl E. Ponds Funeral Home Inc. 200 N. Johnston Ave. Burial in Greenwood Cemetery.  Visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service.
