Michael Wayne "Monkey D" Charles of Rockford departed this earthly life September 4, 2022. He was born January 7, 1953 in Rockford, IL the son of Margaret Charles and Daniel Hill. Michael graduated from East High School. In the words of Michael "do unto others as you expect them to do unto you".

Michael leaves to cherish many loving memories, son Michael (Tan Newsome) Charles Jr; five grandchildren, Dario, Dezaria, Michael III.,  Adejah and Zamarye Charles; great grandchildren, Dario Jr., Zahmere and Mario; special cousin, Collettia (Kent) Berryhill and special friend, who he loved like a brother, Chuckie Richardson a host of other relatives and friends. He was predeceased by parents; two children, Mario and Capresha Charles; grandson, Zamarye Charles; and brother, Travis Charles.

Visitation will be held 2:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. Sunday, September 11, 2022 at Carl E. Ponds Funeral Home Inc. 200 N. Johnston Ave.
