Michael E. "Big Mike" Jones, of Rockford departed this earthly life February 27, 2022. He was born September 19, 1953 the son of Jesse and Margaret Jones.  Michael was a member of Pilgrim Baptist Church, serving on the Usher Board. He was a former member of My Brothers Keeper. Michael graduated from West High School, later attending Rock Valley College.

Michael leaves to cherish many loving memoires, five sons, Marco (Cierra) Jones, Jesse (Aleshia) Jones, Michael (Shelly) Jones Jr., DiMichael Jones and Jabez Jones; 11 grandchildren; 1 great grandson; sister, Francine (Vince) Waller; brothers, Lonnie, Jimmy, Kenny and Dave Jones; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was predeceased by his parents, two brothers, Ivory and Johnny Jones.

Services will be held 11:00 a.m. at Pilgrim Baptist Church 1703 S. Central Ave. Burial in Cedar Bluff Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. Arrangements completed by Carl E. Ponds Funeral Home Inc. 200 N. Johnston Ave.
