Mickie Jean Kennedy of Rockford departed this earthly life January 1, 2022. She was born April 14, 1951 in San Antonio, TX the daughter of Eugene and Mickie Jowers. Mickie lived in Rockford most of her life coming from Texas. She married Steven Kennedy March 15, 1975 in Rockton, IL. She was employed as a lunch aid by the Rockford Board of Education working at Welsh Elementary School over 20 year before retiring. Mickie attended Westminster Presbyterian Church. She graduated from West High school class of 1970 and attended Swedish American Nurses program receiving her Certified Nurses Assistant Certificate.

Mickie leaves to cherish many loving memories, her husband, Steven; two daughters, Tracey (Tim) Dawson and Tonia Kennedy; five grandchildren; Michael, Jonathan, Timmy, Ian and Olivia; a host of other relatives and friends. She was predeceased by her parents, Eugene Jowers and Mickie (Clayton ) Carter; daughter Tina Kennedy; and sister, JoAnn Vaccaro; mother and father in law, Norman and Dorothy Kennedy. Special thanks to Mercy Heath Hospice nursing staff, for the love and kindness provided during Mickie's illness.

Memorial services will be held 11:00 a.m. January 15, 2022 at Beth Eden United Methodist Church 3201 Huffman Blvd, Pastor Eric Reniva presiding. Visitation will be held 10:00 a.m. until the time of service.
