Nerzel Mibritt “Zel” Gladney-Coleman, of Rockford departed this earthly life October 1, 2026. She was born November 20, 1967 in Jonesboro, Arkansas the daughter of James and Zelner Gladney. Nerzel lived in Rockford many years coming from Jonesboro. She married Robert Coleman, August 9, 2003. Nerzel was employed as a Case Manager by Rosecrance 28 years until becoming ill. She spent most of her professional career caring for individuals with severe mental illness who she treated with love, like family and friends. Nerzel graduated from West High School class of 1985.

Nerzel leaves to cherish many loving memories, her husband Robert Coleman; two daughters, Nakari Norris and Ashton (Darian) Lockhart; six grandchildren, Aymond, Karon, Treva, Cameron, Khyryn and Darian, Jr.; her parents Zelner Gladney and James Gladney; four sisters, Leisa Moore, Veronda Gladney, Leonda Gladney, and Sarah (Matthew) Mason; five brothers, Darnell Morgan, James Jr. (Rita) Gladney, Justin Gladney, Christopher Norman and Blake Williams; a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and special friends.

Service Services 2:00 p.m. Sunday, October 11, 2026, at Carl E. Ponds Funeral Home Inc. 200 N. Johnston Ave. Visitation will be held 12:00 noon until the time of service.
