Oliver L. Gideon of Rockford departed this earthly life December 2, 2023. He was born April 14, 1935 in Madison,  Alabama the son of  Willie and Mattie Gideon. Oliver lived in Rockford 55 years coming from Alabama. He married the former Minnie Lewers, June 19, 1987. Oliver  was employed as a laborer in the manufacturing industry. He was a member of Unity Love Church. Oliver attended schools in Madison, Alabama.

Oliver leaves to cherish many loving memories, his wife Minnie; two sons, Kenny (Lorie) Lewers and Derrick Lewers; 6 grandchildren; two sisters, Earlene Davis and Tomella Rice; a  host of other relatives and friends. He was predeceased by his parents; three brothers; and five sisters.

Services will be held 10:00 a.m. Saturday, December 9, 2023 at Unity Love Church 1202 N. Main Street. Burial in Cedar Bluff Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 8:00 a.m. until the time of service.
