Ollie Lee Johnson Sr., of Rockford departed this earthly life October 13, 2023. He was born August 22, 1933 in England, Arkansas the son of Ollie and Flora Johnson. Ollie lived in Rockford since 1998 coming from Bellwood, IL. He married Florine Hendricks December 4, 1959 in Chicago. Ollie was employed as a Punch Press Operator by P.M. Motors many years before retiring. He was a member of Freedom Baptist Church serving as a Deacon. He attended schools in Arkansas later to receive his Literacy certificate.

Ollie leaves to cherish many loving memories, his wife of 64 years, Florine Johnson; two sons, Ollie Lee (Cheryl) Johnson Jr., and Matthew Jordan Johnson; eight daughter, Vanessa Johnson Lewis, Rochelle Johnson, Angela (Kenneth) Coleman, Rita Johnson, Saundra Johnson Gatlin, Jeanette Peloso, Kimberly Johnson and Trina (Kordrey) Johnson Jones; 28 grandchildren; 51 great grandchildren and 12 great great grandchildren; two brothers, LeeVaughn Johnson and Roy Lee Johnson; seven sisters, Verlean Bradford, Sudean Morris, Doris Hendricks, Earslean Simms , Joyce Randall, Gloria Dean Pruitt, and Shirlean Willingham; a host of nieces, nephews other relatives and friends. He was predeceased by his parents; daughter Pamela Johnson; grandsons, Olester Johnson and Edward Johnson; granddaughter, Shimika Davis and great grand daughter, Sharnicca Cannon; sisters, Florean Bledsoe and Ann Smith; brothers Henry Lee Johnson, Herbert Lee Johnson and Robert Lee Johnson.

Services will be held 1:00 p.m. Saturday, October  21, 2023 at Carl E. Ponds Funeral Home Inc. 200 N. Johnston Ave. Visitation will be held 12:00 noon until the time of service.
