Onja Marie Hamberlin, of Rockford departed this earthly life February 2, 2024. She was born August 25, 1978 in  Rockford the daughter of Henry Sr. and Mattie Hamberlin. She was employed after High School by S'barros,  a taxi driver, and a telemarketer; before becoming disabled. Onja attended Macedonia Baptist Church. She graduated from East High School class of 1996. Onja was a huge sports fan, avid Bulls  Cubs and Bears fan. She loved her family and friends, willing to do anything for anyone; putting others before herself.

Onja leaves to cherish many loving memories, her daughter, Azaria O. Hamberlin; two sisters, Marcy and Michelle Hamberlin; and brother Henry Hamberlin Jr; paternal grandmother, Annie L. Hamberlin; niece, Courtney Hamberlin; two great nephews, James Hamberlin III and Rashaad Hamberlin; special friends, Tina Miller and Melissa Arnold; a host of other relatives and friends. She was predeceased by her daughter, Onesija Hamberlin; parents Henry Sr. and Mattie Hamberlin; brother, Hollis J. Hamberlin; paternal grandfather James C. Hamberlin; maternal grandparents, James and Naomi Calhoun.

Services will be held 11:00 a.m. Friday, February 16, 2024 at  Carl E. Ponds Funeral Home Inc. 200 N. Johnston Ave. Burial in Greenwood Cemetery. Visitation will be held 9:00 a.m. until the time of service.
