Oscar "Elmo" Elmore, of Rockford departed this earthly life January 30, 2022. He was born April 29, 1935, in Prattville, Alabama the son of Elmon and Marie Elmore.  Oscar lived in Rockford since 1957 coming from Anniston, Alabama. He married the former Dessie Woods, September 8, 1977, in Rockford. Oscar was employed as a molder by Greenlee Brothers 25 years before retiring, later working 10 years at Grays IGA on Auburn Street.  He was a member of State Street Church of Christ. He attended High School in Prattville, Alabama.

Oscar leaves to cherish many loving memories, his devoted wife, Dessie; son Alvin (Veronica) Woods; four grandchildren, Brandicus Woods, Ebonee Coffman, Joshua (Katherine) Woods and Alakea Woods; four great grandsons; two sisters, Cassandra (Jimmy) Morris and Levonia Whitaker; a host of nieces, nephews' other relatives and friends. He was predeceased by his parents; grandson, Reginal Sockwell; sister, Ida Baldwin; four brothers, Willie D., Dan, Ronald and Armond Elmore.

Services will be held 11:00 a.m. Monday, February 14, 2022, at Carl E. Ponds Funeral Home Inc. 200 N. Johnston Avenue. Burial in Sunset Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be held 9:00 a.m. until the time of service.
