Paul "Jay" Carter Jr., departed this earthly life Sunday, July 20, 2025 in Zion Illinois City of Hope Cancer Center. He was born October 27, 1957 in Rockford, IL the son of Paul Sr. and Dorothy Carter. Jay married his friend and soul mate, the girl next door; the former Kathy Goodman, July 4, 1981.  He was the owner and operator of Carters Classic Cars 19 years with his wife Kathy, where he restored muscle cars and street rods.  Jay attended Jefferson High School.

Jay leaves to cherish many loving memories, his wife Kathy; daughter, Kelly (Cortney Love) Carter; three grandchildren, Louis (Ladeja Dean) Dotson, Deztenni (Jaylin) Goldsmith and Lorenzo Dotson; two great grandchildren: Leyah Dotson and Avani Goldsmith; five brothers, David (Debbie) Carter, Ricky (Nicki) Carter, Mark Carter, Timmy Carter and Steve Carter; a host of nieces, nephews other relatives and friends including close friends Joe Thompson, Pat Oddo and  Jerry Dietrich.  Special thanks to friends,  Dr. Ajaz Khan, nurses Cassandra and Meagan and nurses of Zion IL City of Hope Cancer Center for your love and care through our journey. He was predeceased by his  parents.

A celebration of life will be announced at a later date.
