Peggie Jean "Lady P" Simmons, of Rockford departed this earthly life January 18, 2022. She was born February 9, 1961 in Bolivar, TN the daughter of Luther and Liddie Watkins. Peggie lived in Rockford since 1971 coming from Detroit, MI.  She married Kenneth Simmons August 5, 1997 in Rockford. Peggie was employed 21 years as a package handler by United Parcel Service.  Peggie was a member of Stepping In To Shape and Rock City Unique Steppers.  She attended West High School.

Peggie leaves to cherish many loving memories, her husband, Kenneth; four daughters, Keyondia, Shurika, Kenyetta and Shatiqua Watkins; 9 grandchildren; and one great granddaughter; five sisters, Vivian and Elizabeth Ann Watkins, Patricia Turner, Lucinda Watkins and Christina Marshall; three brothers, Willie, Luther and Charles Watkins; a host of other relatives and friends. She was predeceased by her parents, son, Lastevin Ross and sister, Betsey Watkins.

Services will be held 1:00 p.m. Saturday, January 29, 2022 at Soar Assembly 604 Salter Ave. Burial in Cedar Bluff Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service. Arrangement completed by Carl E. Ponds Funeral Home Inc. 200 N Johnston Ave.
