Phillistine Young was born February 29, 1948 in Jackson, MS to Albert Sr. and Marion Perry.  Phillistine Young lived 46 years in Rockford coming from Chicago, IL. In June, 1966, she married Edwin J.Young Sr. he preceded her in death.  Phillistine was employed by the Transportation Department for the Rockford Board of Education , District 205 for 40 years before retiring.  She was a member of Macedonia Baptist Church since 1995.  She graduated from Marshall High School, Chicago, IL; She received her Associates Degree from Morton College, Cicero, IL; She received her Cosmetologist License from Alberto's  (now known as Educators of Beauty) Hair School of Beauty located in Rockford, IL. Phillistine transitioned from her earthly life and obtained her wings, April 2, 2024.

Phillistine leaves to cherish many loving memories, three children; Edwin J. Young Jr. (son), Karen A.Young-Coleman (daughter) and Marion L. Young (daughter); Twelve grandchildren; Jovan E. Young (Fresno), Michael J. Young, Preyshous Northrup, O'Marion Water-Young, Edwin J.Young, III, Harmonee Fletcher, Ronnie Cross, Jr., Semaj DePriest, Jaelen M. Young-Hankins, MyShyle J. Young and My'Kyle J. Young; Six  greatgranchildren, A/K/A 'GranGran', Harlem Young, Seattle Young, Cincinnati Young, Astoria Young, Zephaniah Lee, Jovan E. Young, Jr. and a host of Nieces, Nephews, Cousins and Friends; Special Acknowledgments to: her Sister children, the Shaw Family, Reginald, Bernard, Jerome, Terra, Tara and Johnny Shaw; her District #205 Family; her Special and Dearest Friend, Diane Christopher. Predeceased by the following family members: Her husband, Edwin Young, Sr., Her Parents; Albert and Marion Perry, Sr.; Her siblings, two sisters, Heartha Lee Shaw, Betty Ann Ball; and one brother Albert Perry Jr.

Service will be held 1:00 p.m. Saturday, April 15, 2024 at Macedonia Baptist Church 1720 Morgan Street. Visitation will be held 11:00 a.m. until the time of service. Arrangements completed by Carl E. Ponds Funeral Home Inc. 200 N. Johnston Ave.
