Robert Eugene Dixon, of Rockford, departed this earthly life, Wednesday, March 13, 2024, in home after a long illness. He was born August 29, 1939, the son of Albert Camper and Pearlene Williams in Chicago, IL. He was born in Chicago and raised in Rockford. Bob married the former Lou Emma Jones. He was a member of Mount Olive Baptist Church serving as chairman of  trustee board and as an usher 30 plus years.  Bob was a welder at Gunite; later working at Rochelle Foods before retiring. He was a member of the Forrest City Modulators. Bowled in the In Crowd Bowling league at Don Carter.

Bob Dixon leaves to cherish many loving memories, his wife of 61 years, Lou Dixon; daughter; Donna Tyler; son, Nicholas Goza; 8 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren, very close cousin, Adrena Armor; close great nephew, Delshun Box; and great nieces, Delcresha and Delnitra Box, and a host of other nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends, and traveling buddies Virginia and Parnell Thomas; and walking buddy James Ponds. He was predeceased by his parents and daughter Hida Weirmann.

Services will be 11am, Saturday, March 23, 2024 in Mt. Olive Baptist church 3108 N. Central Ave. Visitation 9am until 11am.  Entombment at Sunset Memorial Gardens.  Arrangements by Carl E. Ponds Funeral Home.
