Robert "Uncle Bob" Johnson Jr., of Rockford departed this earthly life December 11, 2021. He was born November 3, 1937 in Hope, Arkansas the son of Robert Sr. and Winnie Johnson. Robert lived in Rockford since 1957 coming from Arkansas. He married the former Vera Craig, November 17, 1987 in Rockford. Robert was employed as a pourer by Rockford Forge 15 years before becoming ill. He was a member of Gomez Chapel A.M.E. Church. Robert attended schools in Arkansas.

Robert leaves to cherish many loving memories, his wife, Vera; daughters, Dewanda Craig, Cynthia (Lynn) Hollingshed, Antoinette Burks, Rose (Carley) Boone, Jacqueline (Andre) Hobbs, Judy ( Anthony ) Marshall, Sharon (Tyrone) Holloway, Deborah Burks, Sharon Johnson, Renata (Larry) Hill, and Stephanie (Jeff) Grennan; sons, Tyrone (Cora) Burks, Robert A. Johnson, Anthony Johnson and Maurice (Rachel) Rigsby;  several grandchildren and great grandchildren;  three brothers, Samuel Johnson, Lloyd Johnson Sr., and John Lee Johnson; two sisters, Johnnie Mae Jones and Dorothy Mae Woods,  a host of nieces, nephews other relatives and friends. He was predeceased his parents, two sisters Grace Butler and Mary M. Fisher and brother, Don Lee Johnson.

Services will be held 12:00 noon Saturday, December 18, 2021 at Gomez Chapel A.M.E. Church 1509 Michigan Ave. Burial in Sunset Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be held 10:00 a.m. until the time of service. Arrangements completed by Carl E. Ponds Funeral Home Inc. 200 N. Johnston Ave.
