Robert Lee Smith, of Rockford, departed this earthly life August 24, 2023.  He was born May 12, 1950 in Camden, Arkansas; the son of Lester Lee and Mary Francis Smith. Robert was previously employed by Rockford Board of Education as a Physical Education teacher.  He graduated from Auburn High School, served four years in the Air Force, and then graduated from Rockford College; receiving a Bachelor's degree.

Robert leaves to cherish many loving memories, one daughter, Cheree Smith; three brothers, Roy, Roosevelt, and Clayborn (Kimberly) Smith; three sisters, Brenda Torrence, Sheila (Keith) Curry, and Alicia Jones; a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends, including his former spouse and mother of his daughter, Acquanetta Smith.

He was predeceased by his parents, and two sisters, Ruby Lambert, and Linda Smith
