Roberta Gray, of Rockford departed this earthly life January 2, 2025. She was born September 15, 1929 in Goodman, Mississippi the daughter of Jim and Cella Lewis. Roberta lived in Rockford since 1954 coming from Indiana. She married Hubert White, July 25, 1950 of this union three children were born, he preceded her in death. Roberta later  married Lonnie James Gray, November 23, 1957, of this union two children were born, he also preceded her in death. Roberta was employed as a nurses aid by Roosevelt Square formerly known as Locustwood Nursing Home. She was a member of New Zion Missionary Baptist Church; serving with the Nurses Guild. Roberta was a former member of the  Lions Club. She attended schools in Goodman, MS.

Roberta leaves to cherish many loving memories, two daughters, Lillian (Norman) Bryant and Caroyln Gray-Redmond; step daughter Gayle Cook; 14 grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren;  sisters, Mary Jim Lewis and Shirley Bell; brother, Johnny Claude (Pat )  Riley; a host of nieces, nephews other relatives and friends, including her goddaughters, Tywonnie Stephens, Bernelda Clark, Verdene Sims and Marchal Stewart. She was predeceased by her, husbands, parents;  three daughters, Deloris Crudep, Geraldine Vawters and Wanda Howard; eight sisters, Mattie Pearl Lewis, Jane McIntee, Ezell Chaney, Mabelle Robinson, Minnie Mary Harmon, Lillie Henry-Griffin, Ruby Mae Robinson and Betty Ruth Mabry; three brothers, Excell Lewis, Tom Lewis and James Lewis.

Services will be held 11:00 a.m. Thursday, January 9, 2025 at New Zion Missionary Baptist Church 4726 Jasper Street Rockford, IL 61101. Burial in Sunset Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be held 9:00 a.m. until the time of service.
