Rosella Pitird Jones passed away on December 18, 2021 at the age of 95. Rosella was born in Rockford, Illinois on November 3, 1926, daughter of Louis and Charlotte Conley Pitird. Rosella married Johnnie Jones on October 22, 1943. They were married for 65 years until his death in 2008. They were blessed with two children Gwenella Jones and Philip Terry Jones. Rosella worked for the Rockford Public School System. She was active in Baptist church choirs and women's circles all of her life. In addition to her church activities, she supported many worthy charities. Rosella and her daughter, Gwen and 31 others from Rockford participated in the 1963 March on Washington joining nearly 250,000 to hear Dr. Martin Luther King deliver his "I Have A Dream" speech. Rosella is survived by her son, Philip (Kathleen) Jones of Milwaukee; her granddaughter Anita Lynn Phillips of Rockford; her grandsons Michael (Sara) Jones of Atlanta, GA; Matthew Jones of Milwaukee; great grandchildren: Lakeisha Jones, Demarcus Jones, Wesley Jones, and Nyharia Rose Phillips of Rockford; Isaiah and Olivia Jones of Atlanta; Braylon and Hadley Rose Jones of Milwaukee; Great-great grandson RaSheed Jones and many other nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. She was predeceased by her parents, husband; brothers Louis Pitird, Alsee Weatherall and Joel Weatherall; sister Charlotte Green; daughter Gwenella Jones; son-in-law Henry W. Jones, Jr. and grandson, Kenneth E. Jones.

Services will be held at 11 am December 29, 2021 at Providence Missionary Baptist Church, 2209 Clifton Ave. Visitation will be from 9-11 . Final arrangements completed by Carl E. Ponds Funeral Home Inc. 200 N. Johnston Ave.
