Ruth Jones, 100, of Rockford departed this earthly life December 8, 2021. She was born September 6, 1921 in Fort Pillow, TN the daughter of Dan and Leona Taylor. Ruth lived in Rockford since 1953 coming from Mound City, IL. She married Chester Jones, he preceded her in death. Ruth was a member of Bethel Baptist Church where she served as a Mother of the church and as an Usher. She graduated from High School in Tennessee.

Ruth leaves to cherish many loving memories, son, Chester Taylor of Rockford; 14 grandchildren; and a host of great grandchildren and gret great grandchildren; many other relatives and friends. She was predeceased by her parents; two daughters, Gertie Hanserd and Alice Parker and son, Melvin Jones; three brothers and four sisters.

Services will be held 11:00 a.m. Friday, December 17, 2021 at St. Luke M.B. Church 2919 19th Street. Burial in Cedar Bluff Cemetery. Visitation will be held 9:00 a.m. until the time of service. Arrangements completed by Carl E. Ponds Funeral Home Inc. 200 N. Johnston Ave.
