Shirley Maria Northington, of Rockford, IL departed this earthly life Sunday, August 14, in her home after a long illness. She was born the daughter of William and Mary Hay March 15, 1951, in Henderson, KY. She moved to Rockford in 1966 coming from Kentucky. Married George Northington in 1969. She was a member of Providence Baptist Church for many years before moving her membership to Mt. Saini Baptist church serving as a minister. She was employed at AT&T for 18 years, then Cablevision and retired from Lifescape Community Services and Fairhaven Christian Retirement Center. Her favorite hobbies were sewing, being a nail technician and writing poetry.

She leaves to cherish many loving memories, two daughters; Shereen and Shayla Northington, grandchildren; Jayden Smith and Skyla White, brother Norman Hay, two sisters; Dorothy Coleman and Felicia George, Aunt Anna Black, and a host of uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

She is predeceased by her parents, brother; Bill Hay, and two sisters; Ilyne Carr and Theresa Ketton.
