Shirley Ann Simmons, of Rockford departed this earthly life March 6, 2024. She was born December 30, 1954 in Durant, MS the daughter Ernest and Annie Lee Rounds. Shirley lived in Rockford 60 years, coming from Milwaukee, WI. She married Ronald Simmons, April 5, 1975. Shirley was employed as  a Security Guard by Wackenhut Security  23 years before retiring. She was a member of New Zion Baptist Church.  Shirley graduated from Auburn High School and attended Illinois State University.

Shirley leaves to cherish many loving memories, her husband, Ronald; three daughters, Toiya (Thomas ) Smith, Maya  Simmons and Asheley Simmons; son, Justin Simmons; 4 grandchildren;  sister, Brenda Williams; brother, Earnest Rounds; a host of nieces, nephews other relatives and friends. She was predeceased by her parents;  sister Louise Glover.

Private family service will be held. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Zion Lutheran Church Multi Cultural Civil Rights Trip 925 5th Ave. Rockford, IL 61104
