Thelma Givens departed this earthly life Tuesday, May 17, 2022, in her home surrounded by family. She was born to Lorenza and Samantha Thompson on September 14, 1939, in Vance, Mississippi. Thelma relocated to Rockford, Illinois, with her family, in 1955. She married Ceotias Givens on March 17, 1956. Ceotias preceded her in death after 65 years of marriage. Camcar Textron employed Thelma for twenty-five years before retiring in 2002. She was the proud mother of nine  children and whom she leaves to cherish many loving memories; Donald (Donna) Givens, Duane Givens, Stevie (Virginia) Givens, Annette Givens, Craig (Tante) Givens, Michelle Givens-Atkinson, Erick (Angela) Givens and Cleotha (Beverly) Nickles, 30 grandchildren, and a host of great-grandchildren and sisters Gladys Brown, Dorothy Geddes, Eula Crowley, and brother Austin (Belinda) Thompson.

Services will be held 11:00 a.m. Thursday, May 26, 2022 at St. Luke Missionary Baptist Church 291919th St. Burial in Sunset Memorial Gardens

Visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service.
