Timothy M.
Rogers
Jan 7, 1965 — Sep 17, 2022
Rockford
Timothy Matthews Rogers, 57, passed from this earthly realm and transitioned to meet his heavenly Father in glory on September 17, 2022. He died at home with his loving wife by his side.
He was born January 7, 1965 in Chicago, IL to Edgar A. and Margaret L. Rogers, both preceding him in death.
Tim accepted the Lord Jesus Christ as his Lord and savior and was baptized at Emmanuel Baptist Church (Chicago, IL), under the pastorate of Rev. L Curry.
When he moved to Rockford in 2007, he joined with, and became a faithful member of, the Pilgrim Baptist Church, where he sang in the Male Chorus and the Mass Choir. That is where he met his future soul mate and best friend, Jacquelyn Tenard (nee Towns). They wed in holy matrimony on December 31, 2019.
Tim attended Lindblom Technical High School of Chicago, IL and graduated with the class of 1983. He graduated from Lincoln College (Lincoln, IL) in 1985 with an associates degree in art. Afterwards, he attended Columbia College (Chicago, IL), where he studied marketing and advertising.
He put those artistic and marketing skills to good use by being an entrepreneur, selling several genres of merchandise by various means. He also owned and operated an online art store, T M Rogers ArtFx, where he created and sold various arts and crafts and personal portraits. He sold many of those artistic crafts in regional craft fairs. Later on, he started another online business, Big Tim T Shirts Plus.com, where he did custom silkscreen printing and heat transfer.
Today, Tim's artwork can be seen in parts of Pilgrim Baptist Church and in many of his customers' homes.
Besides creating art, Tim loved to go fishing. His dream lifestyle was to "go off the grid" and live a life of camping, fishing and hunting. Due to his illness, he was unable to fully live out those dreams.
Tim was known among his friends to have a wickedly hilarious sense of humor and he put others at ease with his ability to "keep things real". The gifts he left on this earth were those of true love and friendship.
Tim leaves to cherish many precious memories, his soulmate of 15 years (wife of almost 3 years), Jacquelyn Denise Rogers, 2 stepsons, Carvin Alonzo Tenard and Christopher Alan Tenard, whom he loved as sons; 1 brother, Kenneth J. (Lenora) Rogers of Glenwood, IL; 1 niece, Arielle (Jason) Ware and their 3-year-old son, Jase of Orland Hills, IL; aunt, Barbara Hawkins and special cousin, Titus Hawkins, both of Rockford, IL; many cousins and friends and special childhood friend, Phil Baker of Chicago, IL.
Tim is predeceased by his parents, Edgar and Margaret Rogers and special uncle, Calvin Hawkins.
The family of Timothy Rogers wishes to thank the doctors, nurses and social workers at Loyola University Medical Center (Maywood, IL) for the compassionate care given to Tim. The acts of love shown to him will not be forgotten. Also our sincere thanks to Northern Illinois Hospice for showing true love, care and concern for Tim during his final moments. Finally, a heartfelt thank you to our next door neighbor, Christa Rood, who selflessly gave of her time and talents to care for Tim in our family home.
The homegoing celebration for Timothy will be held 10:00am Saturday, September 24, 2022 at Pilgrim Baptist Church 1703 S. Central Avenue. Burial in Greenwood Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 8:00am until the time of service. Arrangements completed by Carl E. Ponds Funeral Home, Inc. 200 N. Johnston Avenue.
