Van Oscar Roby of Rockford departed this earthly life March 20, 2024. He was born October 30, 1965 in Jackson, MS. The son of Fred Jr. and Billie Roby. Van lived in Rockford most of his life coming from Jackson. Van worked in several fields. He was a great car salesman and car detailer, he owned a lawn care business, as well as carpentry work and home renovation. Van was a former member of Greater New Hope Baptist Church, where he was baptized. He attended Auburn High School and later received his G.E.D. from Blackhawk Technical Institute. He also attended Culinary School in Beloit, WI and Rockford Business College.

Van leaves to cherish many loving memories, his daughter, Shurika Watkins; and son, Ramad Roby; three grandchildren: Armani, Demarjion, and Zy'aire; his parents, Fred Jr. and Billie Roby; sister, Freda (Richard) Wright; brother, Tarence (Ebony Davis) Roby; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins other relatives and friends. He was predeceased by his sister, Cynthia Mangruem.

Services will be held 11:00 a.m. Monday, March 25, 2024 at Carl E. Ponds Funeral Home Inc. 200 N. Johnston Ave. Visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service.
