Velma Marie Blake, of Rockford departed this earthly life May 11, 2024. She was born April 22, 1955 in Jackson, TN the daughter of Virgie Mae Mackey and Junior Austin.  Velma lived in Rockford over 30 years coming Jackson TN.  She married Jessie Blake, he preceded her in death. Velma was employed in housekeeping many years in hotels and nursing homes, before becoming disabled. She was a member of Providence Missionary Baptist Church. Velma attended Mary High School in Jackson.

Velma leaves to cherish many loving memories, her daughter, Chanitta Morgan; three sons, Eric Mackey, Jasper Blake and David Morgan; 9 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; three brothers, Dennis Mackey,  Elmer Mackey and Wilford Mackey; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins other relatives and friends. She was predeceased by her parents; two sisters, Virginia and Valerie Mackey; two brothers, Robert Lewis Mackey and James Leo Mackey.

Services will be held 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, May 22, 2024 at Carl E. Ponds Funeral Home Inc. 200 N. Johnston Ave. Burial in Cedar Bluff Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service.
