William Tyrone "T-Bone" Burks, of Rockford, IL  departed this earthly life March 24, 2024. He was born September 5, 1960 in Rockford the son of Lola Burks and Robert Johnson. Tyrone married the former Cora Wilkerson, July 13, 1996. He was employed 5 years by Modern Metals; 21 years by Ingersoll Milling; and later to work 23 years at United Parcel Service up until last week before retiring. Tyrone worked many part-time jobs including, security at the Metro Center, Rockford Register Star and Custodian with GCA stationed at Auburn High School. He was a volunteer football coach for Northwest Community Center and Booker Washington Center also a baseball coach for St. Elizabeth Community Center. Tyrone was a member of Banner of Truth Family Church; serving with the security team. He graduated from West High School class if 1979. He was a avid sports fan and Chicago Sports fan, of the Bears, Bulls, and White Sox.

Tyrone leaves to cherish many loving memories, his wife Cora Burks; four sons, Damario Martin, Demarcio,(Dana) Terancelo and Willie Wilkerson; 7 grandchildren; mother, Lola Burks; eight sisters, Antoinette Burks, Judy (Tony) Marshall, Sharon Johnson, Debbie Burks, Renata (Larry) Hill, Stephanie (Jeff) Grennas, Sharon (Tyrone) Holloway, Jacqueline (Andre) Hobbs; brothers, Anthony Johnson, Tony Johnson and Maurice (Rachel) Rigsby; step mother; Vera Craig Johnson; and a host of nieces,  nephews other relatives and friends. He was predeceased by his father and niece, Erica Cross.

Services will be held 12:00 p.m. Friday, April  5, 2024 at Banner of Truth Family Church 6732 Harrison Ave. Burial in Cedar Buff Cemetery. Visitation will be held 10:00 a.m. until the time of service. Arrangements completed by Carl E. Ponds Funeral Home Inc. 200 N. Johnston Ave
