Yvonne Inez Boyd of Rockford departed this earthly life July 15, 2025. She was born September 13, 1956 in Rockford the daughter of Sam Sr. and Elsie Simmons. Yvonne lived in Rockford since 2008 coming from Minneapolis, Minnesota. She married Michael Boyd, he preceded her in death. Yvonne was employed as a Computer Analyst 35 years by Federal Reserve Bank in Minneapolis before retiring in 2006. She was a former member of New Zion Baptist Church while in Rockford.  Yvonne attended West High School later to receive her G.E.D.

Yvonne leaves to cherish many loving memories, four brothers, Walter (Susan) Simmons and Sam Jr. ( Barbara) Simmons, Terrence (Lisa) Simmons and Christopher Simmons; five sisters H. Michele Waite, Monica Robinson, Cynthia (Michael Brown) Simmons,  Ramona Simmons and Cordelia Barker; a host of nieces, nephews cousins other relatives and friends including god daughter, Tamika Phelps and best friend/sister, Kotolisa "Peppi" Cadallero. She was predeceased by her father, Sam Simmons Sr., and mother, Elsie Larkin; and step father, Robert Larkin.

Services will be held 5:00 p.m.  Friday July 25, 2025 at Carl E. Ponds Funeral Home Inc. Visitation will be held 3:00 p.m. until the time of service.
